About me

Hello, I’m Mirka, the founder of Onni Therapy— a counselling and psychotherapy practice in Leicester, Market Harborough, and online. I am a qualified relational psychotherapist with a background in psychology (BSc) and child development and learning (MSc). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My work is informed by an interest in how our early experiences can shape our relationships, our sense of ourselves and the patterns we carry into adulthood.

I aim to create a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, collaborative and genuine. I believe that being understood can be an important part of beginning to understand ourselves.

In the past, I’ve supported adults dealing with a wide range of mental health challenges and trauma, often shaped by early life experiences and family dynamics—an area I’m especially passionate about. My areas of special interest include motherhood, trauma, gender, culture, and sexuality. These themes often bring up complex emotions and challenging questions, and I welcome the opportunity to explore them with sensitivity and openness.

The name Onni means happiness or contentment in Finnish, and it reflects the heart of my work: supporting you in finding more ease, clarity, and connection in your life.

I believe that life is happening here and now—and that it’s never too late to begin living more fully. If you're considering therapy, I’d be happy to hear from you. I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call so you can see if I’m the right fit for you.
